Event 1: Mystic Vale walk and Lil’Wat learning and teaching concepts: Promoting a sense of group attunement

Time: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm PST

Mystic Vale is located in a ravine on UVic campus on the ancestral land of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples, recognized as a sacred site. The vale offers a rare sense of connection with nature within the busy hub of the campus. The walk from Maclaurin building and then through the vale will offer reflective experiences that explore Dr. Lorna Wanosts'a7 Williams’ Lil’Wat words for learning and teaching in a decolonized world.
Delegates will engage in a series of group-based activities and open-ended reflections to consider how we can transform education (1) from land-based word connection to the world we create, and (2) through our actions and ways of describing the world.
Please note that attendees must be comfortable walking in a wooded area with steps, and some inclines and declines.
Weather appropriate shoes and clothing is recommended.

Event 2: Social gathering at Smugglers Cove
An informal evening soiree to meet and interact with colleagues over some light bites and drinks.
